One of the main goals of CorneliusCamp.com is to allow real estate agents to connect with each other, network, and learn from other people’s success stories. In today’s interview, I am excited to be interviewing Jared Tye.
Meet Jared Tye
1. Please tell us about yourself and how you got into real estate as a career?
I live outside of Dallas Texas with my wife and two boys. I love working with people and the freedom that comes with outside sales. I also enjoy working with numbers so Mortgage lending is a great fit.
2. What do you like the most about your firm?
I work for First Bank Home Loans. We focus on relationships. Each homebuyer is not just a transaction. They are an opportunity to serve and build long lasting relationships. We are the right size so we can offer excellent and expedient service. We also offer in-house programs such as bridge homes to further help our clients and referral partners.
3. How do you use social media to leverage your business?
I am very appreciative of the fact that social media works out to be a great medium of building genuine relationships. It allows friends and clients to learn more about you and build trust. I enjoy connecting with referral partners on social media, as well as creating and joining networking groups. I do pay for sponsored ads as I feel it’s a great way to start professional relationships.
4. What is your greatest avenue for lead generation?
Friends in related lines of work. I am blessed with people I have worked with in the past who are kind enough to trust their clients and friends with me.
5. What tips can you recommend for buyers and sellers?
One thing I have learned myself as a consumer, is that it’s not all about money. The perfect home, the best professional services, etcetera might work out to be the most affordable, however I have seen clients miss out on opportunity by listing for sale by owner as an example. Sometimes the cheapest option short run can be costly over time.
6. How much is a good percentage to use on advertising?
I do not yet spend much on advertising; however, I am a firm believer in strategically spending money to make money.
7. Can you give us three tools, services, or apps that are pivotal to your business?
I am a firm believer in organization. I try to keep my inbox as filed as possible. This allows me to focus on the urgent requests. I always use a CRM to manage follow up. Being consistent and reliable in contact with prospects can be mutually beneficial. I send myself emails so I don’t forget things. Organization is huge in this industry. I often tell folks the best CRM is simply the one that you use.
8. Who is someone that you consider a mentor in real estate and why?
David Kraft of Remax in McKinney Texas. He is my neighbor of many years and observing his success has been influential in my career decisions.
9. What advice would you give to someone that is just getting started in real estate?
Hold yourself accountable for working a minimum of 8 hours a day. On the good days you may have work coming in and on the slow days you may be cold calling. Do the work regardless. Focus on relationships rather than transactions. If you go to lunch with a potential referral partner just be yourself and talk about whatever comes natural. Business follows trust.
10. What is next for you? What can we expect in 2018?
For me it is all about finding ways to increase the value that I am able to provide my clients and referrals. This is the best measure of my success.
11. How can readers of my blog get in touch with you?
For example, blog, social media handles, email, etc.
